Chest
(full of hope)
By Eric Smith (1999?)
The original version of this song, called “Chest( full of hair)”, was an ode to all hairy, barrel chested men (and women) everywhere. Though, admittedly, it was inspired by one person in particular (whose name shall remain anonymous). This didn’t seem an appropriate song for such a serious minded band like The Hill, so we tarted it up a bit and this was the result. It’s now a song written from the perspective of an individual who is in desperate need of hope – hope that there is more than just this life; hope in a personal, eternal afterlife.
I
used to play - My childhood’s slipped away
Now
I have to fight - Just to have a life
Got
no time to read - Living at full speed
Is
there something more - Is there time to explore?
Thoughts fill my mind
The
end of time, what will we find?
Will
we still be friends? Will this all end?
Will
we meet again?
I
walked towards the park - Long after dark
Stopped
in for a drink - Too loud to think
When
I left the bar - Headed for the stars
I
laid on the ground - There was no one
around
When
you were young
There was a chest by your bed
It held all your hope
All the dreams in your head
That’s
what I want is some hope
That’s
all I need – some hope
Fill my heart full of hope
Fill
my chest full of hope
Thoughts fill my mind
The
end of time, what will we find?
Will
we still be friends? Will this all end?
Will
we meet again?
